Golden Globes: 20 Behind-The-Scenes Pics We Can't Get Over

It is the start of a new year and you know what that means? Awards ― award shows everywhere. Yes, many impatiently wait for January and February to come around so they can gaze at their beloved A-listers hitting the red carpet in their most lavish gowns and snuggest tuxedos.

Last year brought exceptional and unique cinematography and brilliant television, so the Golden Globes, for the 76th time knew they had a huge night ahead of them. All anxious to see who was going to pick up the Globes, we tend to totally forget what happens before the celebrities all hit the carpet with their hottest looks on in front of the millions of paparazzi.

When we take a second to think about it, though, we assume that the stars surely spend hours in the makeup and hair chair. However, we never quite get a glimpse of it. How does Gaga always come out looking so extravagant? How do all the men look so perfectly dapper? How do they act while getting all glammed up? What do they munch on before?

We are so antsy to know everything that occurs in between the long chair hours and the after parties! Though we do not have 24/7 access on what they do prior, social media has granted us access to some special behind-the-scenes photos of our Golden Globes favourites.

20 Who Wouldn’t Want To Give Ricky Martin An Award?

via Instagram

If anyone is going to step out in a suit and tie and look perfectly dapper and sharp, it is Ricky Martin. Oh Ricky, you're so fine!

An unusual behind-the-scenes photo of an A-lister prepping for the Golden Globes, Martin, who just welcomed a baby girl to his family, was on double duty before the much-anticipated award-show.

Stepping out looking like an award himself, Martin, not only a singer, graced the red carpet because of his phenomenal acting in the drama The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.

19 Alyssa Milano Stunned

via Instagram

When doesn't Alyssa Milano look drop-dead gorgeous? The star took to her Instagram account to post a selfie of herself two hours before showtime and we are totally digging the cherry red pout. The talented actress did not attend the Golden Globes to walk up on the stage and accept an award, rather, she attended to support Time's Up that launched a year ago. Despite the success of the movement, Milano, before the prestigious awards, positively exclaimed, "I think we still have a lot more work to do."

18 Caitriona Balfe Took Some Time For Pampering

via Instagram

If you're an avid fan of Outlander, this backstage picture of Caitriona Balfe, a.k.a. Claire Fraser, may just tickle your fancy. Firstly, she is not in a wool shaw, but pictured relaxing in a bathrobe and taking it in before she hit the lights and cameras.

Balfe, throwing it back with some embellished bobby pins in her hair, was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series for her portrayal of Claire Fraser. She was also there to stand for the Time's Up movement, as she did last year like a true boss.

17 We Heard You Amber

via Instagram

Backstage, the 32-year-old actress was pictured here in her hotel before heading off to an incredible night and looks as thrilled as a child in a candy store. Even though Amber Heard was not nominated at this year's Golden Globes despite being a part of one of the most buzz-worthy films, her excitement to be there and present an award was clearly evident in this behind-the-scenes pic.

16 Kaley Cuoco Made Us Have All The Feels

via Instagram

We are not ready to see any of The Big Bang Theory cast leave our television screens ― forever ― no, we just cannot accept it. However, the Globes gave us a peek of our favourite actors on the stage. Luckily for us, and simply put, Cuoco gave us a sneak peak and looks super dashing, even when she is getting prepped.

She may not have been up for an award, but Cuoco looked joyful as can be even before hitting the stage with her BBT boys to present at the ceremony. We can even clearly see a twinkle in her eyes. By the way, do you notice the Jennifer Aniston resemblance here?

15 The Former Child Star Turned Rocker

via Instagram

If you sat down and were blown away by Bohemian Rhapsody, then you might notice the face above ― minus all the extra hair.

One hour before Golden Globes showtime, actor Joe Mazzello posted a smashing selfie of himself to his Instagram story, evidently in a car and heading over to celebrate with his co-stars.

Joe Mazzello, who was a child when he starred in Jurassic Park, played legendary bassist John Deacon in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody ― and we're pretty sure he chanted "We Will Rock You" on the route there.

14 Kristen Bell Was One To Watch

via Instagram

It is safe to say that before the show commenced, Kristen Bell was just as jumpy for the award show as us ― literally. If you follow her Instagram page, you may have noticed that she posted a string of adorable prep videos and photos to her story.

Bless you Bell for letting us in on your awesome pre-game and for also sharing a few useful beauty tips. Bell attended the awards in a soft blush gown, while flashing her pearly whites at the camera with her beau and a nomination for her role as Eleanor on The Good Place, a sitcom all about moral philosophy.

13 The New Mama

via Instagram

If you picked up and read The Handmaid's Tale, when news dropped that it was going to be made into a series, you must have been as merry as a child on Christmas day!

Well, while some starlets are busy glamming themselves up all weekend up until the award night, some, like actress Yvonne Strahovski, who is nominated for her role in The Handmaid's Tale, would rather spend some downtime with family. Before she hit the red carpet looking flawless, the 36-year-old spent time with her adorable baby boy that she recently gave birth to.

12 Emily Blunt Returns

via Instagram

We always wonder just how the stars of Hollywood get ready and glamorous before a huge night like the Golden Globes; thankfully for Instagram, we get all the private details and behind-the-scenes photos.

Also, if you have not seen Mary Poppins Returns yet, what are you waiting for? Pictured here getting her makeup done and looking like a beauty queen in a dashing crochet dress, the actress was getting ready for her Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy nomination. She certainly whisked us away without her umbrella with this picture!

11 The King Of The Queen Biopic

via Instagram

Besides being so adorable, Rami Malek blew the world away with his performance in the Queen biopic as the legendary Freddie Mercury; so much so that we kept having to remind ourselves that it was not Mercury himself in the film ― wait, darling Freddie, is that you in the photo above?

A photo of Malek before the awards is exactly what we needed in our lives, and here he is getting suited up with his glam squad and taking a second to show us what he has got! He was probably rehearsing "We Are The Champions" beforehand too because of his Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama nomination.

10 Charlize Theron Has It All

via Instagram

No matter what Charlize Theron puts on, she looks lavish, posh, and spicy all at once ― heck, she could even throw on a garbage bag!

Here is a photo of the A-lister looking calm, peaceful and relaxed before hitting the red carpet; this behind-the-scenes photo of her looks like a snapshot from the vintage days. Nominated for her performance in Tully, the actress who is already an Oscar and Golden Globe winner, took on the tough role of a stressed-out mother of three that hires a nanny. And, as a mother in real life, we don't comprehend how she looks so flawless.

9 Edgar Ramirez Has Us Hypnotized

via Instagram

Does one always look this quite fancy and delicious? If there is one thing that Ramirez has on lock down, it is his fashion game; he wins our vote for best-dressed male.

The FX anthology series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story was nominated for four awards at the 2019 Golden Globes, and Ramirez, without a doubt, went out looking confident for his Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role nomination. And before the show, he also decided to put his two cents in the gender inequality issue.

8 All Hail Heidi Klum

via Instagram

We feel so blessed that Hollywood A-listers took to Instagram to give us a preview of their pre-Golden Globes rituals ― and you cannot deny that the legs-for-days model Heidi Klum is one you crossed your fingers would share some behind-the-scenes goodies.

Though not there to accept an award, Klum always goes hard and made sure to look as glowing as the awards presented on the fancy evening. So, to help us envy her even more, she gave peeps across the world a play-by-play and inside look at her red-carpet transformation. The video she posted is in fast-forward motion, but we'll take it.

7 Catherine Zeta-Jones, The Foxy Wifey

via instagram

Catherine Zeta-Jones is 49 ― yes, just let that sink in for a minute. The sensational Zeta-Jones was not nominated for a Globe, but she was certainly there to support her number one man, Michael Douglas, who was nominated for his breathtaking performance in The Kominsky Method.

Zeta-Jones always goes to maximum lengths to look sultry and daring on red-carpet events alongside her hubby, and here is a behind-the-scenes photo the star posted on her Instagram of herself getting all dolled up. While her raven locks were getting styled, her makeup was also getting applied, but notice how she put the emphasis on the gold.

6 Connie Britton Raw

via instagram

At the other end of the spectrum, you have celebrities who are not afraid to show off pictures of the real deal behind-the-scenes before such an eventful night; those who do not mind showing off their worst beauty moments.

We know that beauty is pain, but beauty could also be quite hilarious, and the star of Dirty John, Connie Britton was not afraid to show off her glamorous side on her Instagram story ― she truly upped the ante. The actress started off her celebrations for being nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television with a skincare prep routine.

5 A Star And A Diet Is Born

via instagram

When Lady Gaga shows up on the red carpet, all eyes automatically veer toward her ― it is just so natural. Unfortunately for us, upon anticipation of seeing some behind-the-scenes photos of a day in the life of the A Star is Born actress and singer on the night of the Golden Globes, Gaga did not give us any sneak peaks. But she did give us something appetizing and delicious; her food choices before the big night.

If Lady Gaga preps for such a prestigious night with burgers and fries, we will grant ourselves permission, too. The A Star is Born nominee truly knows how to get the jitters down with food before hitting the award stage!

4 Alison Brie Prepped Us For Golden Globes Day

via instagram

You may either be totally in love with Alison Brie because she is just plain awesome, or because her husband is Dave Franco.

The GLOW actress was surely going to glow tonight in front of the cameras with a flushed red face if Franco was not there to save her from a wardrobe malfunction.

However, before she hit the red carpet, the actress, who picked up a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series for GLOW, was quite generous with her fans. She decided to give fans a sneak peak of her entire day; literally the whole process into getting ready ― she rocks!

3 The Marvelous Rachel Brosnahan

via Instagram

A lot goes on behind the scenes, but a lot goes on behind the chair also, and the truly marvelous Rachel Brosnahan was not afraid to show off her pre-ritual. And we are totally loving her "pre-game" face.

Attending the Golden Globes with a Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series nomination for her role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, as Mrs. Maisel herself, she enlisted @streicherhair to make her look as magical as she is.

We have a feeling she had just finished quoting one of her epic lines from the series, "I’m officially losing my mind, which is perfect. Now I will be alone and crazy, the famous mad divorcée of the upper West Side," before the picture.

2 What Really Happens On Award Day

via instagram

When you have the honor and difficult task of hosting an award show, the pressure is on, and real, but nothing could stop The Lonely Island funnyman Andy Samberg.

What do we love most about Samberg? He has no problem showing the world his real world. With much anticipation, Samberg took to Instagram to post a countdown until "da Globes," and when it was Golden Globes day, he gave us a little hint to how things go down.

Thanks to Samberg, we now know that hosts are there early on during the day to rehearse! What a long day ― as if the nerves are not enough.

1 Thandie Newton And All Her Flair

via Instagram

The glitz and the glam ― we love it all! Thandie Newton, who is always so posh and sophisticated, is another Golden Globes nominee that was generous with sharing her preparation and routine before the chic night.

Fans of Westworld, the show Newton picked up a nomination for best supporting actress for, are familiar with Newton baring it all, but when it comes to dressing up, this lady knows how to work it. In a plush white robe, various photos and videos were posted of her luscious curly hair and makeup getting done.
