20 Details Kim Kardashian's Fitness Trainer Can Tell Us About Her Lifestyle

Kim Kardashian has always had a pretty amazing figure. She has curves for days and embraces them fully. Her figure, over the years, has fluctuated, but she always seems to get back to a toned figure. It’s all thanks to her personal trainer Melissa Alcantara who works hard to whip her into shape. She’s had the same trainer for a couple of years and she even appeared on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

In one particular episode, Kim laid it all on the line. "I'm going to start a really crazy diet. I was looking on Instagram and this body builder popped up on my page and she had gained 70 pounds in her pregnancy. Her kid's like 6 now. She is like ripped," Kim told Kris Jenner. "Melissa is a trainer I found. She's super inspiring to me and I really want to meet up with her and see if she could train me. She could help direct my food and really get me on an amazing path. If I was 10 percent like her, it would be life-changing. Like my whole arms and back. It's mostly food. I got to have this lifestyle. I got to try.” That was a year ago and she’s been on the right track ever since. Check out these 20 details Kim Kardashian’s fitness trainer can tell us about her lifestyle.

20 It’s All About Portion Control

via E! News

Some of the best diets out there have the philosophy of portion control. It allows you to eat delicious food as long as you eat them in moderation. Both Kim and Khloe have worked with the trainer. Melissa says her diet philosophy is "making food simple" and eating "fresh and good" meals. "Portion control [is important] too." Kim allowed her into her house to clean out the pantry of "processed crap" like vanilla wafers, graham crackers, and rice crispy treats. This is why Kim calls it a "crazy strict diet." No more rice crispy treats for you Kanye!

19 The Leg Workout Is A Must

via CafeMom

Those curves just don’t come from anywhere and Melissa swears by leg day when it comes to Kim Kardashian. Her booty is something that gets a lot of attention and leg day helps her to maintain the look. In order to get her shapely figure, she has to work on her legs.

There are specific leg routines that they do and it includes weighted power-sled pulls, hex deadlift squats, seated-leg presses and glute kickbacks.

It sounds like a pretty intense workout for her to go through and there is no way that she is missing leg day.

18 She Works Out Six Days A Week

via Nails Images

It’s really not that unusual for people who are serious about working out to spend six days a week at the gym. If you want an amazing figure, you have to be willing to work hard for it. We’ve seen the Kardashians heading off to the gym multiple times on their show. Her trainer, however, is the person that works her the hardest. When she meets with her trainer, it’s in her home and it starts at 6 am. Alcantara said,

"She knows what it takes, but it’s also really gruelling.

It’s heavy, it’s killer, but she’ll be like, ‘Alright, let’s do it!’ She’s a workhorse."

17 How She Highlights Her Hourglass Figure

via GotCeleb

Her body is part of her fame and without it, she wouldn’t really be Kim Kardashian. Her name has been turned into a brand and a franchise. She needs to capitalize on that hourglass figure because it’s part of what she is known for. You would think that she works on her lower body to achieve that, but it’s just the opposite. Her former trainer Gunnar focuses on her upper body instead.

“Working the arms actually highlights her curvy figure. Working the arms and upper body makes her waistline look smaller. For her arms, she does dumbbell curls, overhead shoulder press, and triceps extensions,”

Gunnar said. "By making Kim’s shoulder look bigger, her waist appears smaller. That makes her butt look bigger."

16 She Doesn’t Want The Ab Game

via Richest

With the gruelling workouts that she's taken on, it wouldn’t surprise us one bit to see Kim with a 6-pack. But she has stated that it’s not the kind of figure she’s looking for. She always has a different workout going on since her trainer likes to mix things up.

"It's a mix. I like low-intensity interval training. I have high-intensity and then weight training."

When they are at Gunnar Peterson’s studio, they are often seen doing weights, rope workouts, and squats. "I know I could get abs — I've never been pushed to get them, but I know I could," Kim says during the workout.

15 She Believes In Self Love

via Pinterest

Part of changing her figure was that she also had to change her self-image and start loving herself. That isn’t always easy for ladies who are unhappy with what they see in the mirror. Getting in shape isn’t always just about eating healthy and working out. She decided to change things when pictures of her on vacation in Mexico were released.

"I saw these awful photos of myself when I was on a trip in Mexico and people were Photoshopping them and sharpening them."

It was shortly after that when she found her trainer, Melissa.

14 The Meal Plans Are Intense

via The Cut

Not only are the workouts intense, but so are the meal plans. When you want the figure of your dreams, working out just isn’t enough. There is a meal plan that comes with the workout that cuts our processed foods. It is very close to a Keto diet, where the carbs are limited and good fats are added. Kim is required to eat fresh food that is prepared daily for her. She is to cut out processed foods such as sauces, salad dressings, bread, and cookies. "Most likely, if it comes out of a box, it’s not going to be good for you," said Melissa.

13 She Gets To Have A Cheat Day

via Kardashians - Trendolizer

Cheat days are one of the best parts about being on a strict diet. It allows you to get just a little bit of junk into your life without it affecting your performance. We’ve seen The Rock chow down on sushi during his cheat days and the same goes for Kim. Though she doesn’t go all out as she used to and when asked about her cheat days on Twitter, she responded,

"Take it easy, it's not worth it and I get sick now if I eat too much junk."

According to her trainer, Kim tried to eat greasy French fries and got sick. "I finally said enough with the junk food. These days, I prefer salads with grilled chicken or turkey burgers without the bun."

12 Changing Her Party Habits

via Richest

You might be surprised to hear that Kim Kardashian has put her partying ways behind her. She couldn’t continue doing that, however, with such an intense workout schedule. These days, her health is one of the most important things to her. She still likes to go out to the club, but she remains the designated driver. "I don’t even drink! I can’t stand the taste of [it]." Even though she still goes out, her intense workouts aren’t far from her mind. "Every New Year’s Eve, I try one drink and every time it makes me feel sick. So, I don’t touch [it] – I’m always the designated driver."

11 She Posts About Her Workouts

via Fitness Routine

If you have the Kardashian apps, you've likely seen some of the workouts that Kim does. She has a post entitled, "How I Get a Flat Stomach," and Melissa shared the exact workout that Kim does to get her 24-inch waist.

"It's so important to work out your core!" Kim wrote. "My trainer Melissa and I have been doing really intense ab workouts—and even though they're so hard, I love the end result."

If there's one thing we could all agree on about Kim, it's that she has killer curves.

10 How She Stays Motivated

via Oby Oriji Blog

How does someone like Kim Kardashian stay motivated to do such intense workout and a strict meal plan? That kind of motivation can be stressful and tough at times. It’s not for the faint of heart.

"It’s all about taking action and not being lazy. It’s about getting up, motivating yourself and just doing it,"

said Kim. She makes sure that she doesn’t allow anything to get in the way of her training sessions. Kim wasn’t always as motivated as she is now. "I’ve been wearing gym clothes all day running errands in hopes that I would get motivated to work out…I’m at the gym now, it worked!"

9 No Eating Past A Certain Time

via Pinterest

Intermittent fasting is a controversial subject just because not everyone believes that it’s a healthy option. There are plenty of trainers pedalling the importance of it and Kim even got her sister Kourtney on the band wagon. "Intermittent fasting is also a part of the keto diet," she says.

"For me, this meant not eating for 14 to 16 hours after dinner. I wouldn't eat past 7 p.m. at night and then I would wait to eat breakfast the next day until after my morning workout, which would be around 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Then, one day a week, I did a 24-hour fast where I only drank homemade bone broth, water, and green tea."

8 She Wanted More Out Of Life

via popcornfashion.com

Usually, when people decide to adopt a strict routine, it’s because they are sick of what they were doing before. The media can certainly be harsh with the Kardashians and some of it. While sometimes Kim brings on the comments herself, there are other times when the criticism in the media seems to be more an attack than anything else. There was something about Melissa’s message of love and self-care that spoke volumes to Kim. It was probably because there was a time that Melissa was in the same place.

She wanted to be more "than a tired and overweight person." Melissa went on to say, "I started with taking care of myself since I knew that was the key to taking care of the other areas of my life."

It's all about self-love, right?

7 Making Fitness A Priority

One thing that is a priority in Kim’s life is fitness and staying in shape. She says that it doesn’t matter how busy you are, it should be a priority. Easier said than done for people who don’t have millions and a nanny, but she does have a point. Her trainer Melissa emphasizes that point. Melissa added,

"I'd advise [fellow moms] to make time for the gym, a massage, some yoga, a hair salon, and the other parts of being a woman that make you look and feel feminine, powerful, and amazing.

A boost in confidence goes far beyond superficiality."

6 She’s Not Giving Up The Curves

via Popsugar

She is one of the curviest girls in the industry and she loves it. She’s not one of those girls that wants to shed her foxy curves.

"I’m really proud of my curves, and I hope all you curvy girls out there are embracing yours too."

If you want the kind of workout that is going to have you embracing your curves, then circuit training is your best bet. "It’s important to work out and be the best version of yourself that you can be, but never feel like you have to be the skinniest girl in the room to be the prettiest."

5 She Doesn’t Worry About The Scale

via Entertainment Tonight

Weighing yourself on a scale can be pointless for people who are weight training. Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you follow the scale, you can end up getting frustrated because you don’t see the numbers going down. As you build muscle, the numbers will increase even though you will be slimming down. It’s just a number on the scale and it’s not something that you should be focusing on.

"I always say you shouldn’t weigh yourself. I don’t even have a set of scales in my house,” Kim says.

It's really about how your clothes fit on you.

4 It’s Important To Have A Gym Buddy

via Pinterest

Kim is often seen working out with her sisters and even Kanye at times. If you are training intensely, it can be good to have a training partner because they can help keep you motivated. Kim’s tip to stay motivated is to have someone to work out with. She has exercised with friends from time to time, but she usually recruits family members more often. Obviously, the best workout partner she has right now is Melissa because that’s who gives her the best workouts.

3 They Focus On Feeling Good

via Nidokidos

Melissa’s philosophy is to work out to feel good and not to0 get physical results. The physical stuff is a benefit, but when she is working with her clients, she focuses on their health. When Melissa started her career, she became an instant hit on social media. She has a huge following and she speaks often about the importance of taking care of yourself.

"If you can't take care of yourself first, you can't care for anyone else.

Like they say on planes, [put your own] oxygen mask on first, then help others."

2 Kim Decided To Take A Risk

via PopCulture.com

It seems like the best thing Kim could have done was to hire Melissa as her personal trainer because it completely changed her life. She’s had a transformation that isn’t just physical, but emotional as well. With Melissa by her side, she focuses on her health goals. Melissa says it’s important to do that.

"I'm 100% self-taught through six years of trial and error, sheer dedication, and a healthy amount of obsession over becoming the best at what I do."

If you follow her page, you can see why she has inspired Kim so much.

1 Melissa Believes In Dedication

via Business Insider

We’re not sure how anyone can get up at 5:30 to do a 6 a.m. workout, but that’s what Kim does. The reason for the early-morning workouts is likely because Kim is a busy girl and doesn’t have any other time to do it. When she isn’t working out, she is being an entrepreneur and taking care of her kids. Her workouts happen before she wakes up the kids. Melissa noted,

"Kim takes care of her nutrition, recovery, and shows up to train super hard every time, even though she has a myriad of responsibilities as a social media phenom, businesswoman, mother, wife, and all-around amazing human being."

Just by looking at her, we have no doubt Kim is dedicated to her physique.
